Officials arrested two juveniles Saturday evening in connection to the burglaries of several area churches.
According to officials with the Clay County Sheriff's Department, deputies have been conducting an investigation regarding the burglaries. Items reported stolen from the churches included sound equipment, musical instruments, electronics and money.
The combined value of the items stolen reached in the thousands.
The investigation led deputies to the homes of several Clay County juveniles.
On Friday, deputies began interviewing several juveniles who were believed to be involved in the rash of burglaries.
Eventually, deputies arrested the two juveniles Saturday evening, with the possibility of at least one more arrest to come.
Some of the stolen items have been recovered, but deputies said it was a "small amount" in comparison to everything that was stolen.
Due to the ages of the arrested, their identities are being withheld. The juveniles are preliminarily being detained on charges of Burglary (a class B felony), Felony Theft (a class D felony), along with Criminal Trespass and Criminal Mischief -- both of which are misdemeanors.
Deputies said numerous phone calls they received regarding suspicious vehicles and persons in the areas were contributing factors in the apprehension of the juveniles responsible for the break-ins.
