Recently, the Clay County Sheriff's Department, assisted by the United States Postal Inspectors Office, intercepted a parcel, which had been sent through the United States Postal Service.

The package contained a large quantity of methamphetamine.

During the investigation, search warrants were obtained for both the parcel as well as for the residence it was being sent to.

On Tuesday, July 24, the department, assisted by the United States Postal Inspector's Office, Brazil Police Department and Indiana Conservation Officer, served a search warrant at 1002 Magnolia Dr., Brazil.

As a result of the search warrant, Scott C. Freeman, 47, Brazil, was arrested for Conspiracy to Deal Methamphetamine over three grams (a class A felony), Possession of Methamphetamine over three grams (a class C felony), Possession of Paraphernalia (a class A misdemeanor), and Maintaining a Common Nuisance (a class D felony).

According to officials, the investigation has been in the works for several months, and is currently ongoing.

In addition, the Clay County Sheriff's Department encourages the public to contact the Clay County Justice Center when they see suspicious activity. Information, officials said, plays a "big role in these types of investigations."
