ROCKVILLE -- Darlene Lenze, Cedar Lake, Ind., has a passion for landscape, flowers and animals, especially horses.

Her work in oils is currently on display at the Covered Bridge Art Gallery in Rockville.

She paints with the hope others see the same beauty as she does in simple every day scenes. The scenes might include a lone row boat, part of a birch tree or horses running in freedom.

Her education includes Ball State University, Rhode Island School of Design, 15 years of weekly classes with Wes Berrier in Hobart, Ind., and weekly classes with Northern Indiana Art Association in different media.

In 2011, she not only won Best of Show in the Covered Bridge Art Associate Show, but also two firsts, a second and a third-place in the Lake County Fair Art Show.

The art gallery is open daily, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., except Tuesdays. In addition, it is open Sundays, from 1-5 p.m.
