Margaret Smith Schopmeyer, 93, Brazil, formerly of the Poland, Ind., area, passed away Aug. 9, 2012, at the Village of Avon.

She was born Sept. 9, 1918, in Poland, Ind., the late Harry and Minnie (Cagle) Altemiller.

On April 3, 1936, she married Kenneth "Peck" Smith. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1962.

In January 1974, she married Stanley Schopmeyer. He preceded her in death in October 1992.

She was also preceded in death by her eldest son Robert "Bob" Smith in 1978, and grandsons Ryan Smith, in 1989, and Lyle Smith, in 1996.

She retired from the PR Mallory Company in 1973. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Poland.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She was an impeccable homemaker, a wonderful cook and loved to work in her yard.

She loved to laugh and enjoyed her family and friends.

Survivors include her sons Randy Smith, Plainfield, and Ken (Janet) Smith, Danville, grandsons Kenneth and Elisabeth Smith, Kody Smith, Orlando, Fla., and Warren (Sarah) Smith, Evansville, and great-grandchildren Aidan, Ian, Ben and Olivia Smith.

Visitation was at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Brazil, Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, from 9-11 a.m.
