TERRE HAUTE -- A Brazil man died late Wednesday as a result of an automobile accident.
According to reports, Jessie Hoke, 22, Brazil, was driving his motorcycle into the intersection of 13th Street and College Avenue late Wednesday when he was struck by a truck driven by Martin J. Cenfitelli, 22, Terre Haute.
Witnesses reported the truck ran the red light at the intersection. Cenfitelli allegedly fled the scene in his truck, but was arrested soon after the accident when traffic was stopped by a train.
Reports stated Hoke died of blunt force trauma to the chest and abdomen. An autopsy was conducted on Hoke Thursday morning by Dr. Roland Kohr at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
Cenfitelli appeared in Vigo Superior Court 5 Thursday morning, where he was preliminarily charged with two counts of Driving While Intoxicated Causing Death (a class B felony and class C felony), as well as Leaving The Scene Of An Accident, Resulting In Death (also a class C felony).
Cenfitelli is currently incarcerated at the Vigo County Jail with bail set at $75,000, with no 10 percent allowed.
He is scheduled to return to court Tuesday to hear formal charges.
