After having so much success with the Master Naturalist Class last year, Purdue Extension in Clay and Owen counties are offering the program again this fall.

The program involves an eight-class course that covers topics such as birds, insects, plants, geology and water.

The sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings, from 6-9 p.m., Aug. 21-Oct. 2.

One class will take place Saturday, Aug. 25, from 9 a.m.-noon. Most classes will take place in the Owen County Extension Office in Spencer, while some will take place on location at the Owen Putnam State Forest and McCormick's Creek State Park.

Speakers for the course include the District Forester, Manager of the Owen Putnam State Forest, Purdue Master Gardeners, McCormick's Creek State Park Naturalist, and more.

The cost to be involved in the program is $55, all of which goes toward all class materials and speakers.

Contact the extension office today to be a part of the class. Registration may be completed by contacting the Owen County Extension Office at 812-829-5020.

Space is limited in the class to the first 15 registrants who sign up. Registration must be completed by Aug. 15.

As always, for more information on any agriculture, horticulture, or natural resource topic, contact the local Purdue Extension Office at 448-9041 in Clay County or 812-829-5020 in Owen County or e-mail smith535@purdue.edu.
