Spencer man dies following accident

PATRICKSBURG -- A Spencer man died following a two-vehicle collision Aug. 10.

According to officials with the Owen County Sheriff's Department, at approximately 4:55 p.m., Friday, Aug. 10, officials responded to the accident, located at the intersection of State Road 46 and Pine Lake Road.

Officials stated Michael Head, 34, Spencer, was traveling east and Myria Sparks, Poland, was traveling west when the two vehicles collided.

Head, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sparks was taken to Bloomington Hospital for treatment.

Officials stated speed was believed to be a factor in the accident.

However, the investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Other agencies responding to the accident included Owen County EMS and the Patricksburg Volunteer Fire Department.

So sorry to hear this tragic news. Mike Head was a good man and a great correctional officer. He will be sadly missed. So sorry for the injury to Ms. Sparks too.
