Plans for Habitat for Humanity of Clay County's eighth home are rapidly coming into place.

Recently, the non-profit organization received a $10,000 donation from the Duke Energy Foundation through its Indiana Regional Council and local Duke District Manager Rick Burger.

"Rick really went to bat for us on this," Habitat representative Rogene Morge told The Brazil Times. "We've almost got enough to get started."

Morge said Habitat has secured a lot in Brazil for its eighth home, located at 703 S. Chicago St., through negotiations with officials with the City of Brazil.

Habitat for Humanity of Clay County dedicated its seventh home to Mary Ann Hofmann and family earlier this year. The home is located at 518 E. Ridge St., Brazil.

Throughout the year, Habitat for Humanity of Clay County conducts three fundraisers, including a Fish Fry in April, as well as a yard sale and cruise-in -- both of which take place in July.
