Northview opens week with victories

ROCKVILLE -- Northview's volleyball team powered past Rockville in dominant fashion Monday evening with a 25-9, 25-7, 25-10 victory.

Brylie Riddell had 12 kills and a block, McKenzi Kumf had and Shelbi Morris each had 10 kills and Morgan Stearley provided four kills and a block. Mikayla Rowan added two blocks and a kill for the Knights.

"We were in complete control of the match from the beginning," Northview coach Scott McDonald said. "Our hitters were never presented a block against them as we were able to jump over them. The third set we were up 11-10 and Ashley Heck served the next 14 points. We will be playing at Edgewood Thursday and expect a much bigger challenge.

Madison McDonald led the team with 20 assists to go with three aces and three digs as Taylor Hess added 10 assists, four aces and two digs. Alexus Bex dished out three assists, Heck had six aces and four digs. Audrey Clark had two digs, and Hannah Willocks added one along with Kumpf. Whitney Halfhill had one kill in the victory.

Next match: The Knights (4-0 overall) travel to Edgewood Thursday evening for a 6 p.m. junior varsity start.


Northview boys soccer

The Northview boys' soccer team picked up its first win of the season Monday evening by defeating Cascade on its home pitch by a 4-2 score.

The Knights got goals from Zach Rodgers, Mark Underwood, David Joslyn and Pierce Ross in the victory.

"This was a very physical game. It was a great game to play before going to West Vigo Wednesday," coach Dustin Jorgensen said. "That game is usually pretty physical, so it helps getting that kind of experience right before we play them."

Northview improved to 1-3 overall this season heading into last night's road game at West Vigo. No other stats were available from the game.



Northview boys tennis

NASHVILLE -- The Northview boys' varsity and junior varsity tennis teams earned victories on Saturday at Brown County.

The varsity swept singles play as Bryce Britton, Kyle Moore and Devin Clark each earned wins and the No. 2 doubles team of Gaddis Baysinger and Damon Bass were winners.
