The Northview boys' tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season after a home win against Danville, 4-1.
Northview's Bryce Britton won the No. 1 singles contest, 6-1, 7-5, while Alec Coughanowr claimed the No. 3 match, 6-2, 6-2.
Danville's Nick Newman helped his squad avoid the sweep by claiming a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Northview's Kyle Moore.
The Knights' doubles squads of Devin Clark and Skyler Holifield and Gaddis Baysinger and Damon Bass both won by scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 6-0 respectively.
Northview's coach Craig Cook said he felt his team played well, especially in adverse circumstances.
"I felt like Bryce (Britton) really played well again tonight," Cook said. "He came out and dominated the first set, then he ran into a little adversity in the second set (after) breaking two strings on two rackets. He was down to whatever racket he could find at that point, but he kept his mental focus."
He added the No. 2 doubles team also responded well after losing a tough second set.
"I was also proud of Gaddis (Baysinger) and Damon (Bass) (No. 2 doubles) after losing a tough tiebreaker in the second set," Cook said. "They came back out and pretty much dominated the third set winning 6-0."
Cook said his main goal in the upcoming week is to keep his team healthy and focused before the makeup match against North Central Thursday, and Saturday's tournament at North Montgomery.
