Fireworks show to follow concert

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

On Tuesday, current Rotary Club of Brazil President Mary Jo Alumbaugh confirmed to The Brazil Times the club's annual fireworks show will take place Sunday, Aug. 26, following the season finale of the Brazil Concert Band.

The fireworks normally take place July 4, the final day of the annual Rotary Club of Brazil 4th of July Celebration.

However, due to extreme weather conditions, the event was postponed, and rescheduled to coincide with the concert band's season finale.

Alumbaugh said she recently received word from City of Brazil officials the fireworks could take place.

The Brazil Concert Band will begin performing at 7:30 p.m. Alumbaugh said the fireworks could begin around 10 p.m.

Aerial Arts Fireworks, Brazil, will provide the display.

Most kids go to bed early on school nights. I think this could have been taken into consideration when rescheduling this event.

What about the county wide burn ban? Wasn't this is one of the reasons the fireworks were postponed in the first place?

Burn ban was lifted last Friday.

No kidding on what Papaw's Kids said... Guess my kids won't see them this year. Hope everyone is happy about them going off at 10pm on a night before school/work. Glad we have some smart people that make these choices for our county. POOR, POOR TIMING Rotary Club. Then again lets don't think about the children that need to be well rested for school the next morning. WOW is all I can say...

looks like most counties are as usual smarter than us they say ban is still on and moving on to next yr for fireworks

better safe than sorry

Labor Day Weekend would've made more sense, whats one more week? Plus maybe by then we would have had more rain to dampen the ground.

It's not a public choice. The voice of the public is usually looked away at on most of what goes on with any subject anyways. Lets don't do things when it will be good for the general public lets do them when they fit the elected officers and rotary schedule...

Hey soccer dad, I've always been curious to know how to make everyone happy. Obviously you know how to do that so can you enlighten the rest of the public how to be perfect like you?

Well tapperfryer start by not planning a fireworks show on a school night when the kids who like to see it should be in bed by 9 or so the night before. Maybe do it the following weekend when there is no school on Mon. Maybe everyone would be happy then... PLAIN and SIMPLE!

THANK YOU BRAZIL ROTARY... Due to it being a school night and we start our work/school day at 5AM... Our children will not be able to see your fireworks. Of course we will just have the kids asleep and hope to be asleep ourselves when the BIG BOOMS will go off, awaken everyone and get them upset they cant see the fireworks.. but what the heck... I guess the fireworks expire in one week, by Labor Day's 3 day weekend !!!

To soccer dad and papaw=== I AGREE 100%!!!! WHY NOT NEXT Sun night when schools out the next day!!Its also a patriotic day. For petes sake this is a Common Sense decision and the Rotory blew it !!! I have 5 grand kids and they go to bed at 10pm cause its A SCHOOL NIGHT!!! WOW IT NEVER SURPRISES ME WITH SOME OF THESE TERRIBLE DECICISIONS. AND Tapperfrye must be on the Rotary if he thinks this wasn't a poor decision or he doesn't have kids or granchildren. To bad for the children of Brazil and our surrounding nieghbors.

Oh look ladies and gentlemen they decided to let everyone know the fireworks could begain at 10pm so at the last min changed there mind and shot them off starting at 9:30. Thanks Rotary for making my kids upset because you said 10 so they thought they were going to just have to miss them this year to starting them at 9:30 and they think that mom and dad lied to them and just didn't want to take them. SO PROUD OF SOME PEOPLES ATHORITY AROUND THIS TOWN... Maybe someone will someday get their heads out of their ***** and do something on time or at a good time around here...

The fireworks were very nice, but it's just not the same as it would have been on the 4th. That's nobody's fault, and I understand why they had to be postponed.

Although I won't go as far as some have in their comments on here, it would have been nicer if they would have been shot off on a Friday or Saturday night. Ironically, if they had waited until this coming holiday weekend, it would have been a total wash-out.

Thanks again Rotary Club.
