Arthur Wesley Pollard, 87, Brazil, passed away unexpectedly, Aug. 22, 2012, at 3:05 p.m., in his residence. He was born November 22, 1924, in Coal City, the son of Aaron Wesley Pollard and Christene Stantz Pollard. He served his country in both the Air Force and the U.S. Army. Arthur worked as a machinist for Peerless Pump in Indianapolis for many years before retiring in 1989.

On Jan. 22, 1947, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Wilson Pollard. She preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 2011.

Arthur was a member of the Church of Christ in Coal City. He was a past member of the VFW Post 6606 in Clay City. He enjoyed gardening, especially tomatoes and being Grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Norma and one sister Rosella Moore.

Survivors include his children Jackie Reed and her husband Dennis, Penfield, Ill., Elmer W. Pollard, Sr., and wife Mary, Harmony, Gary W. Pollard and wife Carol, California, Robert Pollard and wife Bert, Brazil, grandchildren Christene, Candy Lynn, Dennis Jr., Elmer Jr., Leslie, Aaron, Kathleen, Michelle and Robert, Jr., 14 great-grandchildren and extended family.

Services will take place Saturday at French Funeral Home at 3 p.m., with Rev. William Price officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
