He was born June 2, 1926, in Vigo County, to Opha and Emma Witt.
Pete graduated from Staunton High School in 1944, and later worked for Thiokol Chemical Company on the Minute Man Missile.
He was multi-talented.
An outdoorsman, a life member of the National Rifle Association, he enjoyed history and storytelling.
Pete was preceded in death by his baby brother Paul Opha Witt.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Witt, Brazil, special cousin Dale (Vicki) Burkitt, Terre Haute, special friends Mike and Molly Ellingsworth, West Terre Haute, and their children, nieces, nephews and other close extended family.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, at Moore Funeral Home, Brazil. Burial will take place at Clearview Cemetery, Brazil.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
