He was surrounded by his wife and four daughters.
He will be remembered as a hard working and fun-loving husband, father and grandfather.
He enjoyed spending time with family and took great pride in his garden.
He also loved watching IU basketball.
Dennis was preceded in death by his only son Dennis Merle Rawley, his parents and several siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Freida Cook Rawley, who he married Feb. 21, 1954, in Patricksburg, Ind.
Also surviving are his daughters Susan and her partner Mark Dick, Paul and Scott Libka, Denise Lynch and the light and joy of his life Sarah Rawley. His youngest brother Oran and his wife Karen, Spencer, also survive, along with his good friend, Gary Allen, Clay City. Surviving grandchildren are Eric Rawley, Anna Blevins and her husband Chris, as well as Julia Whitted and Levi Lynch. Great-grandchildren are Aryka Rawley, Kameron Fullerton and "Papaw's Little Buddy," great-grandson J. Blevins, and several nieces and nephews.
At his request, cremation will be followed by graveside services and interment of his ashes at Maple Grove Cemetery, Clay City, at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 31, 2012.
Services have been entrusted to Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Clay City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
