Robert worked for South Putnam School Corporation in maintenance and also for Quality Inn in Cloverdale. He also worked as a carpenter, mechanic and in construction. He owned and operated Capps Asphalting for several years.
Bob loved working in his yard, being outside and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Junior, John and Bill Capps and one sister Versa Lee Capps.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn, Brazil, daughters Robin Capps, Brazil and Rhonda Silvers and husband Terry, Clay City, adopted daughter/granddaughter Ashley Buchanan and husband Matt, Brazil, grandchildren Courtney Robinson and husband Curtis, Ronald E. Simpson and companion Nikki Creager, Tyler Silvers and companion Chelsea Thomas, Kimberly Simpson and companion Joe Wallace, and Alexis Silvers and companion Zachery Welch, great-grandchildren, Grant Simpson, Miah Capps, Trinity Robinson, Milee Simpson and Daniel Buchanan, step-great-grandchild Madison Creager, brothers Elvin Capps and companion Kathy Minnick, Edward Capps and wife Mable, Gilbert Dale Capps and wife Mary Ann and Raymond Capps and wife Kathy, sisters Ersie Lighty, Phannie Sexton, Terre Haute, Martha Davis, Judy York and husband Richard, Annie Strauser and husband Kenny, and Ruthann O'Conner, sister-in-law Brenda Wood and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., at Lawson-Miller Chapel with Pastor Steve Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m., at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the family. Light a candle in his memory at www.frenchfuneralhome.com
