County Council approves appropriation

Friday, September 7, 2012

During the Clay County Council meeting Tuesday, the council approved a county emergency appropriation ordinance, which appropriated the following additional sums of money out of the County General Fund: $20,000 for jail supplies and $9,000 for inmate clothing.

Prosecutor Lee Reberger requested approval of the VOCA grant, which pays for the salary of the victim advocate position. The position is currently staffed.

The grant is matching, however, the department may use office space as its contribution, at no additional cost to the county.

The grant, if received, would be $22,000 for Oct. 1-Sept. 13. The council approved the grant request.

Three grants were also approved, including: Local Health Main, Bio-T and Emergency Preparedness and LHD Trust Account Grant. The performance grants submitted by the Clay County Health Department are all ongoing with no cost to Clay County. One of the grants is reimbursable.

Meanwhile, the council approved Ordinance No. 18-2012, an amended salary ordinance for certain county employees.

Glad I didn't apply. It was already filled. How was it being paid before?
