Imperial Regiment opens season

LAFAYETTE -- The Clay City Imperial Regiment opened the season Saturday in the Star City marching Festival at Lafayette Jefferson High School.

Competing in Class D, Clay City's score was a 48.60, good enough for fourth-place.

Pioneer won the Class D competition with a score of 54.50, while Clinton Prairie was second at 54.35. Taylor also finished third with a score of 51.80.

Scores were also unknown for Tri-County, Tri-Central and Clinton Central.

Clinton Prairie won Best Music and Best Percussion, while Pioneer won Best Visual and General Effect. Taylor won Best Auxiliary and Best Pit Crew and Tri-Central won Best Drum Major.

Western won Class C with a score of 62.40, while Greenwood won Class B with a 64.80.

Greenwood also won Best Music, Visual, General Effect, Auxiliary, Percussion and Drum Major. Pendleton Heights captured Best Pit Crew.

Brownsburg also captured first in Class A with a score of 59.70.

The Imperial Regiment will next take part in the Spirit of Central Invitational at Lawrence Central High School Saturday, Sept. 15.

Clay City is scheduled to open Class D competition at 4 p.m.

The Northview Marching Knights will also open the 2012 season Saturday when they take part in the Red Pride Marching Invitational at Plainfield. It was not known at press time when the Marching Knights would take the field.

Class B begins at 6pm and NMK will take the field at 6:39pm.
