Knights fall to Sullivan in postponed football game

In a Western Indiana Conference game delayed by inclement weather to Saturday afternoon, the Sullivan Golden Arrows posted a shutout in beating Northview 35-0.

The Knights fell behind 21-0 after one quarter of play as Sullivan extended a 7-0 lead from Friday night. Quarterback Payne Fortner scored the first touchdown on a 23-yard run before lightning delayed the game to Saturday. Once game game resumed, Sullivan got a three-yard score from Brooks Weszely and a 57-yard reception by Michael Hutchcraft from Fortner to open up a solid lead.

Northview struggled to get going offensively as Sullivan held the Knights to just 87 rushing yards on 36 carries for the game. Meanwhile, the Golden Arrows found success through the air as Fortner threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns, including a 42-yard pass to Michael Willis in the third quarter and an 80-yard strike to Weszely.

The Knights drop to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the WIC with a trip to Owen Valley on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
