On Tuesday, county officials announced a possible three-month road closing.

According to officials, County Road 200 West, just north of County Road 1100 North, which also becomes Meridian Street in the City of Brazil, will be closed for approximately 90 days due to the construction of a bridge.

Clay County Commissioner Charlie Brown told The Brazil Times Bridge No. 1 will be replaced. CLR Incorporated -- based out of Vincennes -- will replace the bridge.

The road closing became effective Wednesday.

"The bridge will be torn out and a new one will be put in," Brown said.

The bridge replacement is part of a federal bridge project, Brown said.

The project began approximately eight years ago when plans to replace Bridge No. 84 off Pinckley Street in Brazil began.

Brown initially said there were three bridges that were part of the project, but he scaled it back to two.

The replacement of Bridge No. 84 was recently finished.

CLR Incorporated also has an office in Bloomington, Ind.

"He" scaled it back to two. Did not know he had that kind of authority as an individual...

Wish SR46 was a county road, we would still be using the bridge.
