Heavy Trash Notice
The Brazil City Garage recently notified The Brazil Times that throughout the month of October, heavy trash pickup will take place.
The following will be days for routes:
* Monday route will be Oct. 5,
* Tuesday route will be Oct. 5,
* Wednesday route will be Oct. 19, and
* Thursday route will be Oct. 26.

Girl Scout Notice
All girls in grades kindergarten through senior year are encouraged to join the Girl Scouts.

The Brazil City Garage recently notified The Brazil Times it will be a day behind on trash pickup during the week of Oct. 8.

The Brazil Lions Club is conducting its annual rose sale through Oct. 7.
Roses are being sold to raise funds to support community projects.
Roses are in a vase and are $18 per dozen. They are available in several colors (red and whatever other color we receive). Attempts to honor requests will be made, but there is no guarantee.
Roses will be picked up or delivered Oct. 19.
Volunteers are needed to take veterans in the community to the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, or to one of their Community Based Outpatient Clinics.

Cub Scout Notice
Cub Scout Pack 45 meets regularly on Monday nights at 6:30 p.m., at the Family Worship Center, located on County Road 425 West.

Adults who cannot read or would like to improve their reading are invited to visit private tutors through the Clay County Adult Literacy Program.
The program is free and is set up at the Brazil Public Library, 204 N. Walnut St., Brazil.

The Clay County Local Emergency Planning Committee will conduct its regular 2012 meetings prior to the Clay County Fire Chief's Association at 6 p.m., with the chief's meetings at 7 p.m., during the following dates:
* Nov. 20 -- At the Posey Township Fire House.
The YMCA of Clay County, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil, will host a youth dance Friday, Sept. 14.
The dance is open to sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.
All students should bring student identification or other document showing their grade.
The dance will begin at 8 p.m., and end at 10:30. Cost to attend is $5. There will be concessions available to purchase in the YMCA Community Room.
YMCA staff and volunteers will serve as chaperones.

Republican Club Meeting
The Clay County Republican Club will host its monthly meeting at its new headquarters, located in the Kroger Plaza, Monday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller.
All are invited to the meeting.
Light refreshments will be served.
House of Hope, 5525 W. United States 40, Brazil, will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Saturday, Sept. 15, from 8 a.m.-noon.
Cost is a $5 donation per person served.
The pancake batter will be provided by IHOP.
Platters will also include eggs, sausage, coffee, juice, milk and pastries.
All donations will go toward the needs of the ministry.
Weight Watchers, located at Meadows Shopping Center, Terre Haute, is hosting a Lose for Good Open House Saturday, Sept. 15, from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Guests are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to local food banks.
The open house will include refreshments, zumba and yoga instructors available and a regular meeting, as well as a special panel of people who have lost weight, who will explain how they did it.
The Fontanet Action Community Team will sponsor a pork chop dinner Saturday, Sept. 15.
The event will take place from 3-7:30 p.m., at the Fontanet Community Center.
Freewill donations will be accepted.
Family Fun Day!
Indiana Farm Bureau, Inc., will conduct its District 7 Family Fun Day Saturday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m., at the Sandborn Park and Community Building, Sandborn.
Residents wanting to attend are asked to RSVP by Sept. 7. To register, call the Clay County office at 446-2521.
Clay City Open House
Clay City Jr./Sr. High School will conduct an Open House Monday, Sept. 17, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The purpose of the event is to give parents, grandparents, community members and stakeholders a chance to see what is going on at the school and in its classroom.
The EEL Corps will provide a short presentation in the auditeria at 5:30 p.m. All are invited to visit classrooms and teachers on their own from 5:30-7:30 p.m. There is no set schedule.
Sept. 17 is also the evening for the annual "Volley For The Cure," volleyball game pitting the Clay City Eels against the Northview Knights.
Alpha Omega Alpha Alumnae of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority will celebrate its 75th birthday Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., with an open house at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
Ladies in the community who have a MAL membership or who dropped in good standing are welcome to join the active and alumnae members in observing the birthday.
