Hospital's gift shop offers special gift

Thursday, September 13, 2012

The St. Vincent Clay Hospital's gift shop now has Nakamas available for purchase, including Savannah the elephant (left) and Leona the lion (right). Each stuffed animal has its own name and friendship bracelet. The toys also include a friendship bracelet for the child and a secret code to use for games online. The gift shop is the only store offering the toys in the surrounding area.
St. Vincent Clay Hospital's gift shop currently has a special gift that no other shop has available.

St. Vincent Clay Hospital Auxiliary, a not-for-profit organization that runs the hospital gift shop, recently stocked the shop with Nakamas -- soft, plush animals with colorful patterns -- for purchase. Nakamas is an African word meaning friendship.

Each animal has a special name and wears a friendship bracelet. The animals also come with a friendship bracelet for the child, as well as a secret code to use online. Online, children can create and share bracelets with friends, earn awards through online games and decorate their own virtual clubhouse.

The gifts are $16 with tax included and are recommended for ages 5-and-up.

St. Vincent Clay Hospital's gift shop is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The gift shop is located through the main door of the hospital, through the glass doors on the right.
