STAUNTON -- A 15-year-old Clay County boy was taken to a hospital in Indianapolis Sunday afternoon following a motorcycle accident.
According to information provided by Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department Chief Larry Tempel, the boy was riding a dirt bike through a wooded trail near where he lived, near Private Road 575 North and Happy Holler Road.
Tempel said it appeared the boy might have attempted a jump, allegedly lost control of his motorcycle and wrecked.
Upon arrival, emergency responders said the boy had several injuries, including possible fractures of both of his arms, possible internal injuries and possible head injuries.
Tempel said the boy was responding, but it was limited.
Emergency responders carried the boy out of the area and took him to Staunton Elementary School, where Air Evac airlifted him to a hospital in Indianapolis, possibly Riley Children's Hospital.
Other agencies responding included TransCare and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Tempel said Conservation Officers with the DNR were still investigating the accident.
