City Council sets public hearing for Wednesday

Monday, September 17, 2012

The Brazil Common Council will conduct its meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m., at Brazil City Hall.

Following comments from the audience and Mayor Brian Wyndham, the council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed water and sewer rate increases.

In addition, the council will:

* Conduct a second reading/final adoption of Ordinance No. 11-2012 (water), an ordinance establishing rates and charges for the use of and services rendered by the waterworks utility of the City of Brazil,

* Conduct a second reading/final adoption of Ordinance No. 12-2012 (sewer), an ordinance establishing rates and charges for the use of and services rendered by the City of Brazil public sewer system,

* Read a revised version of Ordinance No. 10-2012, an ordinance amending Chapter 93, Title IX of the Brazil Code of Ordinances, and

* Have discussion regarding a "memorandum of understanding" between the City of Brazil and Clay County Redevelopment Commission.

In regard to new business, the council is supposed to receive a petition in reference to closing an alley, in addition to receiving a request to rename a city street.

It'd be nice if the Brazil web page was operating. The old administration had one up. You could read ordinances and once in a while, they'd have the agenda for the next council meeting.
