The man walked into the bank, displayed a dark-colored handgun and demanded money from one of the two tellers working. Once he received the money, he left heading eastward on foot.
The suspect was described as being a middle-aged white male, between 5'8 and 5'10. He was last seen wearing a khaki-colored baseball cap, dark-colored sweatshirt, dark pants and light-colored sneakers. A photo of the suspect will be released soon.
According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts, officers were on the scene within 13 minutes. They were not able to locate any suspicious persons in Poland.
Clay County Sheriff's Department, Owen County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police and the local FBI office are all working together in the investigation.
Watts encouraged community members to call the Indiana State Police or the local police department if they have any information or saw anyone fitting the suspect's description going in or coming out of the bank Tuesday morning.
No customers were in the bank and neither teller was injured during of the robbery.
