A delicious carry-in meal was shared by 57 family members and one guest.
The oldest family member present was John David Megenhardt, 85, of rural Coal City.
The youngest child present and also attending his first reunion was Kayden Megenhardt, son of Brock and Racheal Megenhardt, Coal City.
The family members traveling the farthest were Bill and Norma Megenhardt of Berthoud, Colo.
Descendants from four branches of the William and Barbara Megenhardt family were in attendance. Present from the William (Billy) Megenhardt branch were Rosemary Killion, Ron Killion, Sean, Autumn and Ella Drake.
In attendance from the Ellen (Megenhardt) Travis branch were Bill and Elaine Travis.
Attending from the Charles Megenhardt branch was John Miller.
The David Megenhardt branch once again had the largest attendance: J. David and Deloris Megenhardt, Wayne, Peggy, Nick and Matthew Burger and guest Lisa Phillippe, Terrence, Mahala, Deven and Kamryn Burger, Larry and Darlene Megenhardt, Gail Megenhardt and Jacob Good, Paul, Ginger and Megan Singleton, John, Penny and Michael Megenhardt, Bob, Dee and Bryce Greenman, Barbie, Jena and Derek Braun, Howard and Grace Dunigan, Tom, Danette and Kirstin Robinson, Darral and Dona Duncan, J.R., Tonya and Taylor Prentice, Pat and Mariah Duncan, Michael Duncan, Jennifer O'Brien and Marley Duncan, Bill and Norma Megenhardt, Bill R., Kristie and Kelsie Megenhardt, and Brock, Racheal and Kayden Megenhardt. Special certificates were made to honor Rayl Klingler, John David Megenhardt and Jack Rentschler for their service to the United States in World War II.
Other veterans who are deceased and were also honored for their service in World War II were Harold Chance, Kenneth Klingler, Paul Klingler, Robert Klingler, Dennis Megenhardt, Forrest Megenhardt, Sam Megenhardt, Roy Miller, Fred H. Rentschler, James Rentscher and Robert Travis.
Games and prizes were also introduced for the first time to the reunion festivities. Taking home the honors of Corn Hole Champions were J.R. Prentice and Michael Duncan.
The adult Hula Hoop winners were Bryce Greenman and Jennifer O'Brien, while the children's Hula Hoop winners were Deven Burger and Kamryn Burger.
Matthew Burger and Derek Braun were winners in "guess the number of candies in the jar."
All were congratulated and presented with prizes for their efforts.
Officers for the coming year are Larry Megenhardt, president; Peggy Burger, vice president; Penny Megenhardt, secretary/treasurer; and Darlene Megenhardt, drink and games committees.
President Larry Megenhardt encouraged everyone to attend the 73rd reunion, Aug. 25, 2013, at Forest Park.
Family photos were taken following the business meeting and then all enjoyed visiting and playing games on a slightly breezy but very pleasant August afternoon.
