Thursday, September 20, 2012

SWITZ CITY -- The Greene County Tourism Advisory Board (GCTAB) recently announced an upcoming event to showcase the varied talent and handiwork of residents across Greene County.

On Saturday, Sept. 29, GCTAB will host the first "Made-In-Greene-County" Showcase, at the White River Valley School Gymnasium, located on State Road 54 in Switz City.

The doors will be open to shoppers from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and will feature products made in Greene County, including furniture, honey, woolen items, crafts, artwork, sculpture, photography, baked goods, fashion items, soaps, candles, primitive décor, crocheted/knitted items, quilts and more.

The event will also feature a Farmer's Market and several local businesses.

Also, Frightmares Haunted House will sell tickets for its upcoming 2012 season.

The event will also feature special guest and native Greene County resident, Dr. Ruby Houldson, author of many books, including the "More Than Angels," series (nominated for Oprah's Book Club and a recipient of several national awards).

Some of Houldson's books will be available for purchase. Houldson will also conduct a drawing for a set of the "More Than Angels" series.

The White River Valley High School class of 2014 will also provide refreshments.
