The Northview girls' soccer team won in style on senior night, 7-0, against South Vermilion Thursday.

Northview took -- and never relinquished the lead after roughly 10 minutes of play on a goal by senior Allison McWilliams, who was set up by Hannah Minor.

At the midway point of the first half, the Knights extended their lead to 2-0 after the first of Melissa Lummis' three goals on the night.

With approximately eight minutes until halftime, Lummis added her second goal on a put-back after South Vermillion's goalie bobbled the ball to push the lead to 3-0.

Then, the Knights Kaysia Reberger added another goal approximately two-minutes later to give her team a 4-0 lead, which Northview eventually took into halftime.

After the break, the Knights kept their foot on the gas and Minor added Northview's fifth goal with 29 minutes to play in the second half.

Then, The Knights took a 6-0 lead with approximately 27 minutes to play on Lummis' third goal of night.

Northview's offense slowed, until Sydney Buell added a goal on an assist from McWilliams, with three minutes to play, and gave the Knights a 7-0 lead, which proved to be the final score.

Northview's coach Lauren Trennel said she was happy with how her team played and noted it was important to get a win.

"They're kind of hurting quite a bit, we don't have many subs right now," Trennel said. "We needed another conference win, (which) will definitely boost morale quite a bit."

Trennel also commended her seniors Courtney Maccarone, Allison McWilliams and Alexis Bender for all their hard work this season.

"Alexis and Allison have both been strongholds in the center for us all season long and for pretty much the duration of their time in the program," Trennel said. "We can really count on them in the middle to help drive play forward and look for options on the wings for us.

"Courtney just joined us this season and she's been a pleasure to work with, she has always had a positive attitude. (She) continues to improve her skill and we've enjoyed having her here."
