Hoosier Lodging broke ground in March on State Road 59, south of Burger King, for the site of a new hotel.
Since then, construction workers have been hard at work building the structure. Currently, the exterior is being finished and drywall is about to start.
The construction, according to Director of Operations Omar Zafrullah, is estimated to be completed by early December.
"That's tentative," he said. "We still need water and sewer connections, as well as furniture."
Hoosier Lodging is still in negotiations with two major national franchises. Zafrullah said they hope to complete negations by the middle of October so they can order signs and start advertising.
Zafrullah said Hoosier Lodging chose Brazil for the hotel location because it feels the city has been overlooked many times. He said Terre Haute and Plainfield have many hotels, and even Cloverdale has quite a few.
"We wanted to invest locally," Zafrullah, who is from Terre Haute, said. He said he felt it was a good location because of the Covered Bridge Festival.
According to Zafrullah, the hotel will have 60 rooms, an elevator, fitness room and full breakfast buffet.
When the hotel opens, Hoosier Lodging plans to have a ribbon cutting.
