SPENCER -- North Clay's cross country teams came away victorious in a four-way meet at Owen Valley Monday evening.
In the boy's race, Taelur Evans paced the field, winning in a time of 11:30 as North Clay cruised to the team win with 19 points. Clay City was second with 48 points followed by Shakamak (79) and an incomplete Owen Valley team.
Ryan Young finished seven seconds behind Evans to take the runner-up spot with Kody Smith in third-place with a time of 11:37. Tyler McNabb placed fifth in 12:08 and Tanner Batchelor rounded out the scoring in eighth-place.
Clay City was led by Caleb Cannon with a time of 12:21 with Calvin Fry in ninth (12:31), Kyle Wolf in 10th (12:55), Jarrett Fisher in 11th (13:07) and Gavin Myers in 12th with a time of 13:08.
In the girl's race, North Clay edged out Shakamak 34-41 with Clay City placing third with 86 points and Owen Valley incomplete.
The Knights were led by the third-place run of Jessica Young in 13:05 with Cheyenne Mullenix in fifth (13:15) and Kourtney Johnson in sixth (14:12). Chelsey Hines placed ninth in 14:40 and Macenzie Allen finished in 15:00.
Clay City's Alexis Laswell was second in 12:45 with Elizabeth Duckwall in 13th (15:17), Jenna Ream in 22nd (16:13), Rendi Crabb in 24th (16:24) and Katie Brooks in 26th (16:26).
On Saturday, the Knights competed in the Greencastle Invite with the boys taking the title and the girls finishing third.
In the boy's meet, North Clay was led by Evans' second-place finish in 11:00 as the Knights finished with 35 team points to top second-place Bloomfield (55) and Greencastle (63) and Cascade (138).
Young was fourth in 11:14, Smith took fifth in 11:18, McNabb was 11th in 11:39 and Batchelor finished in 12:08.
The girl's meet was won by Greencastle with 17 points with Cascade second with 54 points followed by the Knights with 66 points.
Young led North Clay with a fifth-place finish in 12:37, Mullenix was ninth in 12:58, Johnson was 13th in 13:33, Allen was 20th in 14:06 and Cloey Smith was 22nd in 14:16.
North Clay returns home this evening in a meet with South Putnam at Craig Park at 4:30 p.m.
