The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Book Sale

The Friends of the Library will conduct a book sale Friday and Saturday, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

The event will take place in the garage across the street from the library.

Many different books will be available.

Appreciation

Riddell National Bank will conduct Customer Appreciation Day Friday, Sept. 28.

Bank employees will show their appreciation to customers by offering free hot dogs and brats at its main branch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

In addition, there will be a prize drawing to register to win either a $25 gift card, $50 gift card or $100 gift card.

'Black Out'

On Friday, Northview High School will celebrate homecoming as the South Vermillion Wildcats come to town.

Northview officials are asking all fans to wear black to the game for a "Black Out."

The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Golf Scramble

The Van Buren Elementary School fifth-grade golf scramble will take place Sept. 29, at the Forest Park Golf Course.

Cost will be $50 per person, which will cover the cost of golf, lunch, drinks and a T-shirt.

Lunch will begin at noon, with a shotgun start set for 1 p.m.

Money raised from the tournament will be raised for the students to go on field trips, a swell as the cost for end of year graduation and other activities.

Food Giveaway

The Church of our Lord Jesus will conduct a food giveaway Saturday, Sept. 29, from 1-3 p.m.

The event will take place at the church, 708 E. Hendrix St., Brazil.

'Night At The Museum'

Brazil Main Street will host Night at the Museum on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 6-9 p.m., at the Clay County Historical Society Museum. The event will feature reinactments of local historical figures and a tour of the museum itself.

The event will also have a showing of the movie "Night at the Museum" outside once the sun has set. Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair for the movie. Popcorn will be served. The event is free and open to everyone.

Quilt Show

The Vigo County Quilters Guild will conduct a Quilt Show Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 30, from noon-4 p.m., at the National Guard Armory, 3614 Maple Ave., Terre Haute.

Cost to attend is $5.

Quilts will be on display at the event and vendors will be on hand.

Book Signing

Local author Marjorie E. Hopkins will conduct a book signing event at the Open Door Christian Book Store, 3125 S. 3rd Place, Terre Haute, Oct. 6, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Hopkins, a resident of Brazil, will be available to sign copies of her book, "Dying to Meet Him: Wit and Wisdom from a Funeral Director's Wife."

Shot Clinic

The Clay County Humane Shelter will conduct its final shot clinic of the year Saturday, Oct. 6, from 1-4 p.m., at the Forest Park Pavilion.

All shots will be available and will cost $10, including rabies shots, for both cats and dogs.

In addition, shelter representatives said they would have spay-neuter vouchers at a cost of $20 each.

Local Life Chain

The Brazil Life Chain will take place Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at 2 p.m.

The event is an international hour of prayer for the nation and a peaceful, prayerful public witness on behalf of the unborn at risk of abortion.

Life Chain participants will stand and pray on sidewalks of major roadways in cities across the nation and Canada, holding printed signs.

A gathering will be at the intersection of United States 40 and Alabama Street, Brazil.
