The Northview boys' tennis team moved on in sectional play at home Thursday night, after sweeping South Putnam 5-0.

Head coach Craig Cook said he liked what he saw from his team.

"From what I can see, everybody played pretty well," Cook said. "We've already played these guys once so (the goal was) to just come out and take care of business."

At No. 1 singles, Devon Clark ousted the competition 6-0, 6-4, after playing what his coach called some of his best tennis.

"Devon (Clark) played extremely well tonight," Cook said. "He kind of had a game plan in mind and I think he jumped on (John Briones) right away. (Briones) is a good player, (he) got a little frustrated, and I think Devon definitely played one of his better matches of the year. (In the) second set, I knew (Briones) wasn't going to quit, he's a good, athletic kid. I thought Devon just stayed with what was doing well for him and he finished the match strong."

Northview's Bryce Britton took the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-0, while Damon Bass won 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot.

In the doubles matches, it was more dominance from the Knights.

The No. 1 team of Skyler Holifield and Gaddis Baysinger won 6-0, 6-1, while the No. 2 team of Alec Coughanowr and Kyle Moore picked up the victory 6-0, 6-1.

Leading into Saturday's sectional finals, Cook said he knows what it will take to win.

"We're going to stay and watch the matches (tonight between Owen Valley and South Vermillion)," Cook said. "Whoever (wins tonight), we're going to have to play well. We're not a team that's just going to show up and dominate. We have to show up and be ready to play, but if we do that I feel pretty good about our chances."
