Marching Knights, Imperial Regiment earn gold ratings

Both the Northview Marching Knights and Clay City Imperial Regiment earned gold ratings Saturday in the first round of Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) marching competition.

Performing in the ISSMA Plainfield District contest, the Knights were one of five Class B bands to receive gold ratings.

The other B bands included Plainfield, New Palestine, Terre Haute South and Zionsville.

Northview also won Best Music, Best Visual and Best General Effect.

Competing in Class D, Clay City and Monrovia both earned gold ratings.

The Imperial Regiment also earned Best Visual and Best General Effect, while Monrovia won Best Music.

The Marching Knights are scheduled to take part in the Cavalcade of Champions at Center Grove High School Saturday, Oct. 6.

Competing in Class B, Northview is scheduled to perform at 6:58 p.m.

Other Class B bands competing include Terre Haute South, Zionsville, Columbus East, Whiteland, Plainfield, Jasper and Greenwood.

Awards for Class B will be distributed immediately following Greenwood's performance.

Clay City was to take part in the Cory Apple Festival Parade Sunday. In addition, the Imperial Regiment are set to take part in a contest Saturday, but it has not been scheduled as of yet.
