Marching bands earn votes

The Clay City Imperial Regiment is currently ranked 11th in the IndianaMarching.com Class D poll. The Imperial Regiment will perform Saturday in the Preview of Champions at Ben Davis High School. Clay City's performance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
With only three weeks remaining until the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Marching Band State Finals, both the Northview Marching Knights and Clay City Imperial Regiment continue to earn votes in the weekly IndianaMarching.com polls.

In Class B this week, Northview earned 121 votes, good enough for fifth-place.

Last week, the Knights also tallied 121 votes, but placed fourth.

Greenwood is the top-ranked Class B band this week with 137 votes, followed by Jasper, Concord, Goshen, Northview, Northridge, Floyd Central, Munster, DeKalb and New Castle.

Goshen was on top of the poll last week.

In the Class D poll this week, the Imperial Regiment earned 61 votes, to place 11th overall.

Clay City was 11th last week as well, but only gathered 43 votes.

Forest Park is still the top-ranked Class D band in the poll with 150 votes, including all 10 first-place nods.

Lewis Cass is still ranked second, followed by Springs Valley, Paoli, Mater Dei, Southridge, Monrovia, Easter (Greentown), South Spencer and Adams Central.

With a week between state contests, the Marching Knights and Imperial Regiment will head out this weekend for another weekend of competition.

On Saturday, the Marching Knights will take part in the Cavalcade of Champions at Center Grove High School.

Competing in Class B, Northview will take the field at 6:58 p.m. Other Class B bands performing include Terre Haute South (5:53 p.m.), Zionsville (6:06 p.m.), Columbus East (6:19 p.m.), Whiteland (6:32 p.m.), Plainfield (6:45 p.m.), Jasper (7:11 p.m.) and Greenwood (7:24 p.m.).

Awards for Class B will follow Greenwood's performance.

The Imperial Regiment will take part in the Preview of Champions contest at Ben Davis High School Saturday.

Clay City, competing in Class D, will perform at 5:30 p.m.

Other Class D bands performing include Monrovia (5 p.m.), Southridge (5:15 p.m.) and Lewis Cass (5:45 p.m.).

Awards for Class D will follow Class C performances.

ISSMA action will continue Oct. 13, with regional contests. The semi-state is scheduled for Oct. 27, with the state finals taking place Nov. 3 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
