Burying A Time Capsule

Sunday, October 7, 2012

(Photo)
The Clay County Girl Scouts buried a time capsule filled with patches, letters and photos representing each troupe, among other things, in order to celebrate the Girl Scouts 100th anniversary and the Clay County Popcorn Festival's 10th anniversary. The capsule was donated by French's Funeral Home. The capsule will be opened in 10 years. [Order this photo]

So, when will it be unearthed?

Hope they don't forget to unearth it like the one in front of the fountain that was suppose to be opened already.

I know one was buried on the court house lawn about 45 years ago although i dont recall the exact year. It was to be buried for 50 years so it should be dug up in the very near future. Does anybody recall what year it is to be dug up

The one on the court house lawn is to be opened Oct 1 of 2016. The one in front of the fountain at the park says Riddell National Bank Time capsule placed Sept 1985 to be opened sept 2000. It still hasn't been unearthed. Anyone know a reason why?

Thank you for the information. I remember very well being in the 2nd grade and drawing a pic for the time capsel on the court House lawn. It will be exciting to watch it dug up and seeing everything that was put in. As far as the one in front of the bank, that's a shame. It should be dug up. It will be very interesting for all

Correction I was referring to the one in front if the fountain not in front of the bank...

I don't know why but I recall the school. ( forest park) asking us to draw A pic of what we wanted to be when we grow up. I of course I wanted to be a police officer i can recall that picture very well.Well I never did become a police officer. But it will be interesting. To see what all my friends wanted to become and what there actually doing now..

I too, had to draw a pic at Forest Park, for the time capsule. Seems like I was in about 2nd grade or so, which would have put the year at around 1977.

Mine was Spiderman. I'm still trying to find a radioactive spider to start the process.
