Officials grateful for turnout

To the Editor:

Saturday night (Oct. 29), a great event happened in Brazil.

The Historical Society Museum came alive with the past, and so did downtown Brazil.

Brazil Main Street had an idea, "Night at the Museum," to bring the museum alive to help promote downtown and hopefully bring people out, and they came.

We had guests of Bonnie and Clyde, Governor George Craig, Edgar Allen Poe, the Wright Brothers, Abe Lincoln ... there were just too many to name them all.

We have many people to thank and we hope not to leave anyone out, so special thanks to Brazil Main Street, A+ Printing, The Brazil Times, Megan and Ken Hawkins, Lee Lewis, the Northview High School students who came and played character actors and helped behind the scenes, the City of Brazil for the movie, popcorn and drinks, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, the Community Theatre of Clay County, to the museum members who helped with getting everyone through the tour, to the adult volunteers who were character actors and last, but not least, to the community for showing up and bringing their families to share an evening of history in a new and different way. What a fun time everyone had.

For those of you who might have missed it, plans are already in the making for next year, with some new characters to bring history alive.

The museum will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the post office building in 2013, and we can't think of a better way to do it then to share it with the community.

Sincerely,

The Clay County Historical Society
