Heavy Trash Notice
The Brazil City Garage recently notified The Brazil Times that throughout the month of October, heavy trash pickup will take place.
The following will be days for routes:
* Wednesday route will be Oct. 19, and
* Thursday route will be Oct. 26.

The YMCA of Clay County will be promoting memberships throughout the month of October.
Throughout the month, the Y is waiving the joiners fee for new members.
It will also offer "Be A Good Friend," days which members may bring in friends to exercise without the friend having to purchase a day pass.
The dates are Oct. 5, 10, 16, 25 and 29.
Also, through the month, seniors (62-older) may get in to the Y by purchasing day passes on Mondays, men (19-61) are on Tuesdays and women (19-61) are on Wednesdays.
Families are Thursdays and young adults (14-19) are Fridays.
Girl Scout Notice
All girls in grades kindergarten through senior year are encouraged to join the Girl Scouts.

Volunteers are needed to take veterans in the community to the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, or to one of their Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
Those interested are encouraged to contact Michael R. Holland, Clay County Veterans Service Office, at 448-9015.
The deadline for Thanksgiving Basket applications is Oct. 19.
Applications may be picked up and dropped off at the Brazil Housing Authority, Department of Child Services, Hamilton Center, or at schools.

Board To Meet
The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety will conduct a meeting at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.
General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.
The Clay County Redevelopment Commission will conduct a special meeting at 6 p.m., Oct. 10, at the Clay County Courthouse Commissioner's Courtroom.
Council To Meet
A regular meeting of the Brazil Common Council will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.
The city budget hearing will take place during the meeting.
The public is welcome to attend.
The Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct its monthly breakfast Saturday, Oct. 13, from 7-11 a.m.
French Funeral Home will conduct its 12th Pumpkin Giveaway from 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Oct. 13.
The event will take place at the funeral home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil.

The second Swing for a Cure Co-Ed Softball Tournament will take place Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Saline City Softball Diamond.
If there are too many teams signed up, games will also be played Sunday, Oct. 14.
Cost is $125 per team.
Cost includes food, drinks, raffle items, T-shirts and softball.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Relay For Life.

The event is sponsored by Schurick's Heating Softball Team and Bob and Barb Gillin Family.
The Clay County Community Foundation will sponsor its fifth Harvest Hoedown from 4:30-9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds.
All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the foundation.
The event will feature a Texas-style dinner from 4:30-7 p.m.
A silent auction will take place from 4:30-8 p.m.
Toni's Tumbling and Dance Studio will provide entertainment from 7:30-8:15 p.m.
Children's games will be provided by the YMCA of Clay County from 6-7 p.m. Cornhole games will also be available from 6-8 p.m.
The announcements of the 2012 grant recipients will be made from 7-7:30 p.m.
General admission to the event is $15, which includes cost of the meal. Children 12-under will be admitted for $5.
The Clay County Sheriff's Merit Board will conduct a special meeting Monday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m., at the Clay County Justice Center.
