Knights and Eels pick up volleyball victories

CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The Northview volleyball team continued its preparation for the postseason by overwhelming an 18-win Crawfordsville squad on the road Tuesday evening.

The Knights captured a 25-21, 25-17, 25-22 victory as Audrey Clark posted 12 digs, McKenzi Kumpf added 10, Ashley Heck posted six and Hannah Willocks had five defensively.

"We didn't do any one thing great, but we were very consistent throughout the match and just grinded out a win," Northview coach Scott McDonald said. "We have some time now to start preparing for the tournament."

Shelbi Morris led the squad with 13 kills to go with five digs and a block while Brylie Riddell had 11 kills, six aces, three digs and two blocks on the night. Kumpf posted 12 kills and a block with Mikayla Rowan adding three kills, two blocks and two assists. Morgan Stearley had a dig, two kills, two assists and a block and Alexus Bex had two digs, two kills and two assists. Madison McDonald contributed 17 assists for the Knights along with six digs, two aces and a kill. Taylor Hess had 16 assists, seven digs, an ace and a kill in the victory.

The Knights improved to 27-5 overall and visit Plainfield this evening.

Clay City volleyball

The Clay City Eels knocked off White River Valley on Tuesday night by a 25-19, 25-12, 25-19 score.

Halli Brewer posted 11 kills, six digs, two blocks and an ace with Callie Dayhuff adding 12 kills, 16 digs and three aces. Chloe Kittle contributed eight kills, seven digs and four aces with Emmie Kittle leading the team with 30 assists to go with six digs and a kill. Kiersten Teagarden had a block and Makenzie McKittrick had two kills. Alyssa Yocom had four assists, two kills and a dig and Claire Miller had six digs.

The junior varsity Eels were 25-24, 25-14 winners.

Clay City will hold senior night this evening against Bloomington North.
