To the Editor:

Fifty years of the K-Day Pancake Feast and Parade is now history.

The Brazil Kiwanis is so thankful for the many volunteers that made it possible: The V.F.W. Post 1127 Post letting us use its great facility for the breakfast; the House of Hope for helping with preparations and serving of the breakfast; Ferrell Gas for providing the fuel; The Key Club Counselor Pat Krider, students and parents working together at the breakfast; the Queen/King and Princess/Prince candidates, runner-ups and participants selling tickets; the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department for helping lineup the parade; Joe Dierdorff, emcee of the parade, and many other volunteers giving their time and talents setting up and cleaning up.

Their caring, unconditional desires for our youth was truly evident. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

It was gratifying to see the crowd along the parade route. We appreciated and thank the city, county and state officers and fire department officials who coordinated traffic for a successful parade. We received many positive comments on what K-Day events means that uplifted our desire to continue the tradition.

Currently, K-Day is the only fundraising event of the Brazil Kiwanis.

All profits go to youth and youth programs, scholarships, 4-H, special needs or requests, Riley Hospital, etc.

To keep K-Day on the roster, we welcome your talents, ideas and suggestions.

Be mentors and join us. We meet at the Pizza Hut on the first and third Thursday of each month from 5:30-6:30 p.m., about three hours or less a month.

Kiwanis is family oriented, working with and around family agendas. We want caring people who want to make a difference. How about you?

It takes little effort for dynamic results.

K-Day 2013 is on the way. Questions? Call Ann Walden at 812-236-1254 or Penny Keller at 812-877-2910.
