In honor of the late Spc. Arronn Fields, 27, Knightsville -- who died from injuries sustained during a rocket-propelled grenade attack May 21, in Afghanistan -- the council purchased a commemorative stone bench, which has been placed in Knightsville Community Park, and has now set a date for its dedication ceremony.
The council will conduct the ceremony before its regularly scheduled November meeting on Nov. 13, at 7 p.m.
Council members added the public is invited and urged to attend the dedication ceremony.
Meanwhile, the council discussed concerns with recent vandalism in the Knightsville Community Park.
According to the council, there has been graffiti on the playground equipment and restrooms, as well as damage to the restrooms.
There has also been evidence of people being inside areas where they are not allowed.
The council said it has plans to add more park equipment, but the plans may be put on hold if vandalism continues.
In addition, the council designated Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m., as Knightsville trick-or-treating hours.
