The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Leaf Pickup

Associates of the Brazil City Garage will conduct leaf pickup throughout November and into December.

The following is the schedule for leaf pickup:

* Nov. 5-9 -- Southwest section of the city will be picked up,

* Nov. 13-16 -- Southeast section of the city will be picked up,

* Nov. 19-21 -- Additional piles will be picked up,

* Nov. 26-30 -- Northeast section of the city will be picked up, and

* Dec. 3-7 -- Northwest section of the city will be picked up.

Heavy Trash Notice

The Brazil City Garage recently notified The Brazil Times that throughout the month of October, heavy trash pickup will take place.

The following will be days for routes:

* Wednesday route will be Oct. 19, and

* Thursday route will be Oct. 26.

Bingo Nights Moved

The V.F.W. Post 1127 has announced its Bingo night has moved.

Bingo night will move to Friday evenings beginning Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m., with Bonanza and early bird games.

At the start of regular games, at approximately 7 p.m., a minimum payout of $25 per game with first half $50 B.N.O. and second half jackpot of $500 if hit in 55 numbers or less and $100 if not hit.

This will continue through Nov. 30.

The game will be played in a smoke-free environment.

Special Meeting

The Clay County Health Board will conduct a meeting Monday, Oct. 22, at noon, in the health office, 1214 E. National Ave., STE B 110, in the lower level of the St. Vincent Medical Office Building.

Chamber To Meet

The Clay County Chamber of Commerce will conduct its monthly meeting at noon, Tuesday, Oct. 23.

The meeting will take place at the Renaissance Reception and Conference Center, 101 W. National Ave., Brazil.

The featured speaker for October will be Jenny Strole with Terre Haute Youth League.

The league's mission is to develop and motivate young professionals to become more engaged in their community.

Board Of Works To Meet

The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety will conduct a meeting at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Council To Meet

The Brazil Common Council will conduct a meeting at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

'Block Party'

The Clay County Democrat Party will host a "Block Party," Thursday, Oct. 25, on the east side of the Clay County Courthouse.

The street will be blocked off and there will be free hot dogs, chips and drinks for those in attendance.

There will be entertainment and drawings from donations.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Donations

Serving On The Streets (S.O.S.) will host a Trunk or Treat event Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Forest Park Pavilion.

The organization is welcoming donations of goodies for the event.

Those interested in donating are asked to bring wrapped candy, treats, toys or favors to the Wednesday, Oct. 24, Rotary Club of Brazil luncheon. The luncheons take place at the Renaissance Reception and Conference Center, 101 W. National Ave., Brazil.

Veterans Expo

A Veteran's Expo will take place Oct. 25, from 2-6 p.m., at the Brazil National Guard Armory. Veteran's resources will be available such as employment opportunities, medical information, education assistance and V.A. information. There is no charge for admission, and refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Damion Brown at 812-242-6472.

Think Pink!

On Thursday, Oct. 25, youth ages 7-under are invited to The Brazil Public Library to make a pink beaded ribbon to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The craft event is free and open to the public.

Community Dinner

The Lady Volunteers of Staunton will host a community dinner at the Staunton Community Center Friday, Oct. 26, from 4-7 p.m.

The meal will consist of ham and beans, cornbread, fried potatoes, desserts, coffee, tea and lemonade.

Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children.

Shot Clinic

Due to a scheduling conflict, the Clay County Humane Shelter will conduct its final shot clinic of the year Saturday, Oct. 27, from 1-4 p.m., at the Forest Park Pavilion.

All shots will be available and will cost $10, including rabies shots, for both cats and dogs.

In addition, shelter representatives said they would have spay-neuter vouchers at a cost of $20 each.
