Area bands ready for ISSMA contests

After a week off, both the Clay City Imperial Regiment and Northview Marching Knights will march back into Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) action this weekend.

Both county bands will compete in ISSMA semi-state action Saturday, Oct. 27.

The Marching Knights, ranked fourth in the IndianaMarching.com Class B poll, will take part in the Indianapolis Pike High School semi-state. Northview will compete at 2:44 p.m.

Other Class B bands competing include Bloomington North, New Castle, Pendleton Heights, Plainfield, Whiteland, New Palestine, Greenwood, North Side, Plymouth, Goshen, Jasper, Floyd Central, East Noble, Concord, F.J. Reitz, DeKalb, Northridge, Elkhart Central and Munster.

Clay City, ranked ninth in the IndianaMarching.com Class D poll, will take part in the Franklin Community High School semi-state Saturday.

The Imperial Regiment will perform at 2:31 p.m.

Other Class D bands performing include Taylor, Paoli, Eastern (Greentown), Monrovia, Clinton Prairie, Elwood, Pioneer, Orleans, Crawford County, Springs Valley, Lewis Cass, Bluffton, Adams Central, Southridge, Mater Dei, Eastside, South Spencer, Bremen and Forest Park.

The Class A semi-state will take place at Ben Davis High School, while the Class C semi-state will take place at Decatur Central High School.

The top 10 bands from each site will advance to the ISSMA State Finals, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 3, at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis.

Gates to all sites open at noon. Cost to attend is $7.
