* Imperial Regiment misses finals' cut
INDIANAPOLIS -- For the 26th consecutive year, Clay County residents will be heading to Indianapolis for the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Marching Band State Finals.
On Saturday, the Northview Marching Knights advanced to the ISSMA State Finals, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 3, at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Northview advanced out of the Indianapolis Pike Class B Semi-State.
Other Class B bands heading to state finals include Plainfield, Greenwood, North Side, Goshen, Jasper, Floyd Central, Concord, Northridge and Munster.
Despite advancing to the state finals, NMK Band Director Bob Medworth said the Marching Knights have a tough week of practice ahead.
"(Semi-State) was extremely windy and extremely cold," Medworth said. "I don't think (the students) felt like they had a good show.
"I think (next week) will be up to the (students) and how much we can get done this week. There are certainly plenty of things we can still do better, so we'll have to see how many things we can get fixed this week. We're not consistent yet."
The Clay City Imperial Regiment also competed in semi-state action. However, Clay City did not advance to the Class D State Finals.
The Imperial Regiment competed in the Class D Franklin Community Semi-State.
Class D bands advancing to the state finals included Paoli, Monrovia, Springs Valley, Lewis Cass, Adams Central, Southridge, Mater Dei, Eastside, South Spencer and Forest Park.
Admission to the event is $20 for adults and $18 for students. Gates are scheduled to open at noon.
Class B will begin at 1:15 p.m. The Marching Knights will perform at 2:59 p.m.
