Thomas to speak at historical society meeting

The Clay County Historical Society will meet Monday, Nov. 5, in the lower level of the museum.

This is the annual turkey dinner. Those wishing to attend should take note of the time change of 6:30 p.m.

There will be no board meeting.

The guest speaker will be local attorney Amos Thomas, who will discuss the 225th anniversary of the United States Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

The public is invited to attend the meeting.

The Dec. 3, meeting will feature Jim Albright, author of "The Last Guard Out."

This is a true story of one man's life behind the walls of Alcatraz until the island closed in 1963.

More information will be forth coming before the December meeting.

The museum is open Monday through Friday, from 1-4 p.m., and Saturday from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Special tours may be arranged by calling the museum during business hours.
