Chip Hoskins (D), Brazil, is running for re-election in the Clay County Council, At-Large. Hoskins has served as a county councilman for four years.
"I'm running for re-election because I enjoy it for one thing, and for another I feel comfortable with what I do now," Hoskins said. "I have learned about the structure of the county government and how the county works financially."
Hoskins is a supervisor at Great Dane Trailers, where he has worked for the past 36 years. He said he enjoys working for the taxpayers of the county on the council.
"Over the last four years, we've implemented quite a few things as far as the improvement for the county goes," Hoskins said. "I'm excited about things that could take place in the future as far as growth in the county."
Growth is exactly what Hoskins wants to do for the county if re-elected.
"I've been a life-long resident of the county," he said. "I can see what improvements need to be done to the county that would entice other companies to come into the county, which would give us more jobs."
Hoskins told The Brazil Times he has worked with the commissioners to build up infrastructure in the county to make it more pleasing for other companies to want to establish business in Clay County.
"I want to continue to strive for improvement within the county to make it more of an attractive place for growth," he said. "I want to work with all the other officials so we can get economic growth in the community and county."
Hoskins has been married for 35 years. He has three children, five grandchildren and one on the way.
The 2012 election is Tuesday, Nov. 6.
