Marching Knights head to State Finals

Thursday, November 1, 2012

The Northview Marching Knights will compete in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Class B State Finals Saturday at 2:59 p.m.
The final IndianaMarching.com poll was released earlier this week and the Northview Marching Knights continue to receive accolades from voters.

Band directors and IndianaMarching.com staff vote in the polls.

This week, the Knights were ranked fourth in the Class B poll, garnering 69 votes.

Greenwood was the top-rated Class B band with 94 votes, including four first-place votes.

Jasper was second with 93 votes -- and the remaining first-place nods -- while Concord came in third with 79 votes.

Goshen stood in fifth with 65 votes, followed by Northridge (49), Floyd Central (35), Munster (28), North Side (20) and Plainfield (18).

DeKalb, Bloomington North, New Castle, Plymouth and Elkhart Central were all honorable mention bands in the final poll.

In comparison to last week, the Knights moved from third to fourth. Concord edged past Northview for third this week.

Greenwood and Jasper both ranked one and two in last week's poll.

Goshen, Northridge and Floyd Central did not change placings from last week's poll. However, last week's poll saw Munster ranked ninth, while it also had DeKalb ranked eighth and Bloomington North ranked 10th.

Both North Side and Plainfield had strong performances at the semi-state last week to earn a trip to the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Marching Band State Finals, set for Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis.

Class B performances are scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m., with North Side.

Northview is set to take the field at 2:59 p.m.

Awards for Class B will follow Greenwood's 3:12 p.m., performance.

In the final IndianaMarching.com Class D poll, the Clay City Imperial Regiment was listed as the top honorable mention band.

Forest Park earned the top spot in Class D, followed by Springs Valley, Lewis Cass, Paoli, Monrovia, Mater Dei, Southridge, Adams Central, South Spencer and Eastside.

The ISSMA Class D State Finals are scheduled to immediately follow Class B, beginning at 4:30 p.m., with Lewis Cass.
