The Clay Business Women's Club, in partnership with Terre Haute Savings Bank, will present the annual Reality Store at North Clay Middle School Monday, Nov. 12.
The event will take place from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Through the program, Clay City and North Clay eighth-graders will acquire information, which will assist them in making choices for their future.
Reality Store, trademarked by BPW/Indiana, traces its roots in Brazil to 1992.
Then, many reached adulthood without knowing what it would really cost to support themselves and their families in their chosen lifestyle.
Because of the lack of knowledge, the best choices were not always made.
For these reasons, the Clay Business Women's Club wanted to help the youth of today to make better decisions for tomorrow.
This year's event, titled "Leap Into The Future," will give students a taste of what life will be like as adults.
The students will encounter booths, such as bank, housing, food, child care, medical insurance, entertainment, and more.
They will learn how to budget, evaluate the information and make appropriate plans for their futures.
A large number of community residents and leaders volunteer to help make the event a valuable experience for each student who attends.
In addition, each student will have the opportunity for evaluation at the conclusion of their trip through the store.
