Tri County Home Ec. Club
The October meeting of the Tri County Home Ec. Club took place at the home of Debbie Lawson with co-hostess Dede Witty.
After Julie Pell blessed the food, eleven members enjoyed a delicious meal.
President Jeanne Steuerwald opened the business meeting by thanking our hostesses.
Jean Rowing led the pledges and Claralou Thompson gave devotions from the book "Appreciate God's Creation."
Secretary Debbie Lawson read the minutes of last month's meeting and gave the treasurer's report.
She then took roll call, with everyone telling why they liked October.
Song of the month was sung and happy birthday was sung to Jean Cupp and Jeanne Steuerwald.
Jean Rowing gave the citizenship lesson on voting and read an article on the number of Amish families living in Parke County.
President Jeanne asked for all members to turn in a favorite recipe with a personal picture for the 100th anniversary cookbook.
Several events are being planned next year for Indiana's Home Ec. Club 100th anniversary celebration.
All members were reminded of the Nov. 15, special meeting and the retirement party of educator Peggy Davis, who will retire at the end of November.
Special interest lessons and package lessons were also discussed.
A get-well card was signed for member Ruth Timm, who is recovering from surgery.
Our club is excited to have four new members this fall: Jean Cupp, Vera Lear, Jane Williams and Dede Witty.
Jean Rowings gave the lesson "It's a Cold, It's a Flu, It's a Foodborne Illness."
After the lesson, pillows were stuffed for the children's Christmas project.
Jeanne Steuerwald and Jane Williams won the luck plate and lucky napkin; they were gifted beautiful yellow mum plants.
The meeting was closed with everyone singing the club prayer.
Because of Thanksgiving, the next meeting will take place a week early on Nov. 13, at the home of Julie Pell.
