Robert "B.J." Steadman was awarded the 2012 Professional Achievement Award at the Indiana Chapter of APSE Oct. 24, during the annual conference of the organization in Indianapolis.
APSE is an organization that provides support, information, education and networking for those in the field of supported employment for persons with disabilities.
Steadman is an Employment Specialist for Hamilton Center's Employment Solutions division.
The purpose of the annual ward is to recognize outstanding professional achievements as a job coach, job developer, employment specialist or state agency personnel.
Steadman was selected from nominations from throughout the state for his highly effective professionalism, trustworthiness, respectfulness, supportiveness and innovation through his interactions with supported employees, as well as with their friends, family members and employers.
Steadman's supervisor, Nichelle Washington, nominated him for the award, calling upon his ability to motivate his clients and his willingness to take the extra step or make an extra effort to help them be successful.
Employment Solutions is the supported employment division of Hamilton Center that works closely with Vocational Rehabilitation and local employers to help assure the successful employment of persons with disabilities in the Wabash Valley.
