The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:


Those interested in taking part in the Brazil Police Department's annual "Shop With A Cop" event are encouraged to come to the police department to pick up an application.

Completed applications are due back to the department by Nov. 26.

Applications may be picked up seven days a week, from 8 a.m.-midnight.

Leaf Pickup

Associates of the Brazil City Garage will conduct leaf pickup throughout November and into December.

The following is the schedule for leaf pickup:

* Nov. 13-16 -- Southeast section of the city will be picked up,

* Nov. 19-21 -- Additional piles will be picked up,

* Nov. 26-30 -- Northeast section of the city will be picked up, and

* Dec. 3-7 -- Northwest section of the city will be picked up.

Board Of Works To Meet

The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety will meet Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m., in City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Council Meeting

The Clay County 4-H Council meeting will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the 4-H Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall.

All are welcome to attend the meeting.

The Brazil Common Council will conduct its November meeting Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m., in City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Housing Authority To Meet

The Board of Commissioners for the Brazil Housing Authority will conduct its monthly meeting Thursday, Nov. 15, at 8:30 a.m., at the offices of the Brazil Housing Authority, 122 W. Jackson St., Brazil.


The Northview Band and Guard parents will sponsor a Longaberger Basket Bingo event Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Kennedy's Crossing Bingo Hall.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with Bingo beginning at 6:30.

Cost is $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Extra cards will be available for $5.

There will be two intermission games.

Craft Time!

Those interested are invited to the Brazil Public Library Thursday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m., to make a winter snowman globe.

Those wishing to attend must pre-register and pre-pay by Nov. 9.

Cost to attend is $5. The event is open to the public.

Special Meeting

Bee Ridge Congregational Christian Church will conduct its monthly all-you-can-eat breakfast Saturday, Nov. 17, from 7-10 a.m., at the church, located on Kennedy Crossing Road.

A freewill donation will be accepted to benefit the new church building project for Bee Ridge.

Craft Fair

The Lady Volunteers of Staunton will host a Holiday Craft Fair Nov. 17, at the Staunton Community Center.

The event will take place from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Spaces are available to rent.

Food will be available at the event, including traveling tacos, hot dogs, desserts and drinks.

Antique Bottle And Pottery Show

The Wabash Valley Antique Bottle and Pottery Club will present the 15th Illiana Antique Bottle and Pottery Show and Sale Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Shadow Auction Barn, 1517 Maple Ave., Terre Haute.

Show hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Admission is free.

There will also be a special event -- The Historical Bottle and Pottery Auction -- Friday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m.

Bake Sale

The Sisters of Providence will conduct a bake sale from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, in the hallway outside of the Gift Shop at Providence Center, located at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

Cookies, pies, breads, candy, jellies, cakes and more will be available.

All proceeds will benefit the sisters' ministries.
