Members of the Knightsville community honored Spc. Arronn David Fields on Tuesday, dedicating a bench in his name. Fields died from injuries he sustained during a rocket-propelled grenade attack in Afghanistan May 21.

Members of Fields' family were in attendance including his niece and nephew. Pastor Richard McShanog led the dedication.

"I know he loved his family and he loved his country," McShanog said. "Anyone who puts on the uniform of the Untied States military is someone to be respected and to be appreciated, but I think what I heard that stands out the most to me, is that (Aaronn) also loved his God."

McShanog led the group of people in prayer for Fields' family.

"I just want to continue to tell the family that he will never be forgotten," McShanog said. "This bench will tell generations to come about his great sacrifice."

The commemorative stone bench has been placed in the Knightsville Community Park, and the Knightsville Town Council will also dedicate a section of Knights Street as a memorial way for Fields.
